“As a young entrepreneur, I have come across a lot of innovative minds, but what is usually lacking is the confidence and drive to start small, or simply start with what you have accessible to you at that moment. Awethu has given me the courage to just start.”
Tshepo Matlhwane is the driving force behind Car Parlor, a mobile car wash service that caters to residential and commercial customers in and around the Fourways area.
Tshepo’s entrepreneurial venture began after his family business closed down in 2014. Knowing he needed to act fast, he began job hunting and quickly realised that he wanted to run his own business where he could be the primary decision maker.
Awethu provided mentorship, networking and the opportunity to create a start-up. Since Tshepo joined forces with Awethu, he’s watched his business transform from an idea into the company it is today.
The coaching sessions he’s been a part of have helped him brainstorm various ways of reaching his target market.
“Challenges that arise can be tackled head on with the trust of the Awethu team.”
On his entrepreneurial journey, Tshepo realised that the exposure you receive from interacting with other entrepreneurs reassures you that what you’re trying to achieve is possible, as long as you put your mind to it.
When asked to share advice with fellow entrepreneurs, Tshepo had this to say: “The one great lesson I have learnt is that entrepreneurship isn’t the colossal mountain I once believed it was. Everything great starts small.”
